Three Iranian short titles have been picked to vie at the 2019 Banjaluka Int'l Animated Film Festival in Bosnia.

Three Iranian short titles have been picked to vie at the 2019 Banjaluka International Animated Film Festival in Bosnia.

Iran will attend the competition program of the official section of the event with ‘The Pattern’ by Azad Jannati which tells the story of a rug weaver and the patterns she has in mind.

Jannati’s The Pattern’ is inspired by the Iraqi chemical weapons attack on Halabja in Iraqi Kurdistan in 1988.

Also among the films that will compete in the official section of the festival are ‘One Person’ by Mahboubeh Kalaee about love and loneliness, and Milad Shahjani’s ‘Story of a Man without Lips’ which is based on a children’s poem about a man who doesn’t have lips to smile.

As ifilm reported earlier, ‘Mr. Deer’ by Mojtaba Mousavi will also make Iran representatives at the festival.

Launched in 1971, Banjaluka International Animated Film Festival was the first of its kind in Yugoslavia, and while it has changed over the years it has remained focused in its love for all things animated.

The 2019 edition of the festival is slated for October 24-28, 2019.
